ODS Behavioral Health

ODS Behavioral Health (ODSBH) is a program offered to ODS medical plan members. The mission of ODSBH is to assure the highest-possible-quality behavioral healthcare for ODS members. ODSBH activities are driven by a concern for positive treatment outcomes, with attention to ensuring appropriate use of resources.

ODSBH believes that quality of care is the provision of the most effective care, by the most appropriate provider, in the most appropriate setting, with the most efficient use of the member’s benefits. ODSBH continuously evaluates the appropriateness of the healthcare received by ODS members. ODSBH monitors developments in treatment technology and research and recommends best practices to providers.

Mind Body Connection forms (Oregon Health Plan)

To improve coordination of care between PCPs and Mental Health Providers for Southern Oregon residents, the Mind Body Connection (MBC) collaborative was established in 2005. MBC created a Notice of Referral/Consent For the Release of Information form for OHP members. This form exists to enhance communication of vital information between mental and physical health care providers via a legal release of information signed by the patient, parent or legal guardian. ODS partners with Family Care and Mid Rogue Health Plan to distribute this tool to providers in Jackson County. Please use this new form with all OHP patients in Jackson County. Clinical guidelines

Depression

ODS has adopted the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement guideline for treatment of major depression in adults in primary care.

Adjustment disorder

Recommendations for assessment and treatment of adjustment disorder.

Outpatient psychotherapy

ODS recommends consistent use of outcomes measures in outpatient psychotherapy.

Clinical tools

Chemical dependency

ODS encourages all providers to screen for possible chemical dependency problems using a validated tool such as CAGE or AUDIT screening.

The CRAFFT is appropriate for screening adolescents and children for substance abuse, including prescription drug misuse.

Depression

ODS encourages all providers to screen for possible depression problems using a validated tool such as the PHQ-9. PHQ-9 scoring instructions.

Outcomes measures

Providers can use validated outcomes measures and supporting documentation, usually free of charge, available at ACORN and Heart & Soul of Change.
